Job Description:


We have an excellent career opportunity for an experienced General Manager at the Holiday Inn Dedham located 10 miles from the beautiful city of Boston. This hotel's suburban location offers easy access to neighboring Westwood, Needham and Norwood and next to Legacy Place Entertainment Center. Close to other upscale shopping venues and restaurants. Competitively positioned, this full service hotel employs 60 customer-centric associates; has 200 spacious rooms, 10,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, and is home to Bamboo, a full service restaurant for lunch and dinner. The ideal candidate must be guest and associate focused, possess proven leadership skills as well as solid levels of interpersonal excellence to achieve outstanding operating and financial performance.

The General Manager will be responsible for leading department level managers to include Sales and Marketing, Food & Beverage, Human Resources, Front Office, Housekeeping, Accounting, and Engineering. Specifically, the position requires active participation in the budgeting and forecasting process: profit maximization; interviewing, hiring, and leading staff by building on the existing spirit of pride and performance; daily property inspections; administrative duties including writing and reviewing reports (occupancy, yield management, capital planning): active participation in community affairs: and willingness to engage in effective communication with associates, community members, brand leadership teams, and property owners.

Experience and Skills:


This position requires at least five years of management experience at a premium branded full service property: considerable knowledge of hotel operations: leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and develop staff; excellent time management skills; ability to produce consistent profits and a basic understanding of asset management; clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; excellent listening skills; ability to create and maintain a courteous, friendly, and professional work environment; familiarity with budget preparation, forecasting, and cost containment. Experience with hotel management technology resources-- ProfitSword, Hotel Effectiveness, and M-3 is highly desired.
