Job Description:

We are seeking a professional and dynamic individual with proven sales and leadership skills to manage our Sales Department at our Embassy Suites Colorado Springs Hotel located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. EMBASSY SUITES Colorado Springs is an all-suite full service hotel with 206 suites and 7,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. Colorado Springs is a gateway to the majestic Rocky Mountains and surrounded by many indoor and outdoor activities that can be enjoyed year-round. Reporting to the General Manager, this position will be responsible for the following essential duties:

  • Direct the solicitation efforts of room sales through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.
  • Administer the staffing, training and performance reviews for the Sales Department. Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Spire’s standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.
  • Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly Forecast, Marketing Budget, and Booking Report.
  • Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations for prospective clients. Internally promote hotel’s programs. Meet with and entertain clients, some of which may require travel.
  • Initiate preparation of computerized annual Marketing Plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.
  • Implement measures to enhance the property's community image.

Experience and Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three to five years of solid hotel sales experience at the managerial level; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; a professional demeanor; knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends, and economic factors coupled with a proven track record for marketing success; extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentations; computer literacy; ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.  In addition, the successful candidate will possess a solid network of active business leads.
