Position:Loss Prevention Officer

Department:Loss Prevention

Reports to: Director of Engineering

FLSA Designation:Nonexempt

Purpose of the position:Efficiently and effectively safeguards property that belongs to the hotel, employees and guests.Oversees the safety and well being of guests and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Efficiently perform a continuous foot patrol of the entire property while maintaining constant communication with AYS, the MOD and other employees as required

  • Quickly and efficiently respond to and investigate all hotel-related accidents involving guests, employees and vehicles/property

  • Quickly and efficiently investigate all criminal activity occurring on the property coordinating all activities wit the Police Department as necessary

  • Monitor employees’ ingress and egress to and from the property ensuring the security of the hotel property

  • Provide escorts for employees with cash banks and late night employee departure

  • Monitor employees to ensure rules and regulations contained in Employee Handbook relative to parking, safety and security are followed

  • Oversee departmental key check-in and check-out

  • Efficiently handle lost and found items in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper

  • Efficiently and quickly assist guests in solving unusual problems as required

  • Know and follow department and hotel fire prevention and emergency procedures

  • Accurately maintain a chronological log of activities and observations

  • Efficiently supervise parking of vehicles

  • Immediately report all discrepancies to the Manager on Duty

  • Use proper radio procedure in accordance with FCC and hotel policy

  • Immediately report all violations of hotel and company to immediate supervisor or department head

  • Protect and follow department procedure for all master keys

  • Escort and witness cash drops when requested

  • Assist in the shipping/receiving operation as directed

  • Enforce the hotel package pass policy

  • Have working knowledge of the hotel’s guest room key system

  • Assist other employees in the completion of their duties fostering and atmosphere of teamwork

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Must be flexible to work any shifts including morning, evenings, weekends and holidays

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Certified in CPR, AED, and basic first aid
  • High Diploma
  • D Security License

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form with guests and employees so as to respond accurately and completely to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as required

  • Communicate effectively in writing related reports

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job

  • Stand or walk for varying lengths of time, sometimes for long periods

  • Walk on flat or uneven ground and climb stairs

  • Walk and run to respond to any area of the hotel property in a fast, safe manner in the case of emergencies

  • Handle equipment of approximately 25 pounds

  • Handle, stoop, twist, bend, lift and reach to physically assist an adult individual requiring emergency care, requiring bodily support and/or restraint
