Job Description:

The EMBASSY SUITES by HILTON Colorado Springs, owned and operated by Spire Hospitality, is seeking a dynamic, experienced Controller to take on the challenge of a unique position.  We are conveniently located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, close to movie theaters, shopping, and restaurants, just minutes away from Downtown Colorado Springs. EMBASSY SUITES Colorado Springs is an all-suite full service hotel with 206 suites and 7,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. Colorado Springs is a gateway to the majestic Rocky Mountains and surrounded by many indoor and outdoor activities that can be enjoyed year-round.

The Controller position is responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the Accounting department with Director level responsibilities as a member of the hotels Executive Committee.

Responsibilities include conducting and overseeing all aspects of the accounting process to ensure accuracy and efficiency, assisting departments in the preparation of budgets, monitoring expenses and compiling data to ensure accurate and timely monthly P & L statements. Review all ledger account reconciliations to include: bank statements, assets, liabilities and credit cards. Coordinate and review monthly financial statements for accuracy. Monitor coding of cash receipts. Direct and supervise performance of accounting, auditing and cashiering staff including maintenance of payroll records. Prepare Annual Depreciation schedules for furniture, equipment, building supplies, revisions and alterations. Review tax returns to insure compliance with state and federal regulations. Prepare the utilities and telephone accrual monthly. Monitor records of inventory to control accuracy of supply distribution. Sign food and beverage disbursement checks. Assist in internal daily audits of cash deposits and transfers.


Experience and Skills:

The ideal candidate will have a related degree in business or accounting or must have approximately five years of experience in a similarly sized hotel & position. Management experience within the accounting role is necessary. Proficiency in Excel is required, experience with M3 accounting system and Profit Sword are highly desirable. Fluency with OnQ PMS and Micros POS preferred.
