Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Human Resources professional to manage the HR function at our Doubletree by Hilton Hotel located in beautiful Annapolis, Maryland. Our hotel offers 219 rooms and 12,000 square feet of unique indoor meeting/event space. This position represents an exciting opportunity for a hands on human resources professional willing and able to address the HR needs of approximately 100 associates in a full service property. The position responsibilities include:

  • Direct and instruct the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient employees.
  • Conduct interviews for management and line level positions referring only qualified candidates for further consideration.
  • Ensure that associates are developed and utilized to their maximum potential by controlling the implementation, administration and monitoring of all training programs.
  • Instruct and facilitate training classes, analyze and review current and proposed methods, consult with and make recommendations to the management staff for improvement.
  • Monitor the employee performance review and coaching program to ensure reviews are timely, goals are appropriate, measurable, and achievable.
  • Oversee the administration of employee relations programs and activities such as employee recognition and service award ceremonies, employee rallies, social functions and general hotel meetings to maintain a positive employee relations climate.
  • Process bi-weekly payrolls in accordance with applicable pay cycles. Ensure completion and processing of HRAFs. Edit time and attendance records and prepare and run labor reports as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws as well as regulations and court rulings, which pertain to Human Resources by reviewing current management practices, implementing new procedures and communicating new requirements.
  • Provide assistance, guidance and counseling to the General Manager, management staff and line level associates in order to maximize the quality and professionalism of the hotel staff by listening and interpreting concerns and objectively seeking solutions.
  • Ensure the administration of wages and benefits are compliant with company policy.

Experience and Skills:

Four to six years of progressively responsible human resources experience in recruitment, training and development, employee relations, and performance coaching. Solid computer literacy to include intermediate competency levels in Microsoft Office Suite applications, applicant tracking and payroll processing systems. Ability to manage a one person HR Department and to deal effectively with all employees and employee representatives, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to collect accurate information and resolve conflicts. Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to prepare official correspondence as well as provide clear and meaningful instructions, guidance and counseling to associates at all levels. Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters. Prior experience in the hotel or hospitality industry, and additional language ability preferred.
