Purpose of the Position: Ensure proper set up of banquet function room as specified in the banquet event order. Provide patrons with high quality satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Ensure that details are followed from the banquet event order; Check banquet event orders for next day’s set-ups
  • Attend to guest needs in a pleasant manner
  • Deliver soiled linen to laundry department; determine if linen needs to be washed immediately for the next day’s set-up or in the future
  • Make assignments for banquet set-up persons
  • Supervise and assist banquet set-up persons
  • Ensure that at the close of a function and the end of the workday that all banquet rooms are cleared and securely locked, lights off and music off. All equipment is to be stored in a designated storing area
  • Inspect and make necessary corrections on all work done by set-up staff
  • Assist server whenever possible
  • Relay all patron’s compliments or complaints to management immediately
  • Take care of all banquet equipment
  • Submit maintenance request to Engineering for broken and damage equipment
  • Do a walkthrough every two weeks in banquet space and make necessary maintenance request to ensure the condition of the banquet space
  • Do inventory of all banquet equipment every three months
  • Ensure that set-up persons sign-in and sign out
  • Document any issues or incidents with any of the set-up persons
  • Train Set-up persons all duties that need to be done

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Know your schedule work and follow it accordingly
  • Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow employees
  • Maintain professional attire and personal hygiene
  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area
  • Perform your job according to standard operating procedures
  • Read, understand and follow all policies, procedures and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook
  • Implement management company and hotel’s safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuation, first aid, etc) to include removing all safety hazards, following company’s OSHA program, safe lifting techniques
  • Utilize protective equipment, when applicable
  • Promptly report substandard ( unsafe ) conditions to Supervisor
  • Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to Supervisor
  • Keeps accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments
  • Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints
  • Practice 'CARE hospitality' and provide guest satisfaction
  • Promote the hotel through goodwill, courtesy and a positive attitude
  • Attend all schedule training classes and meetings
  • Continue to learn and grow in your position
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules
  • Assist person(s) with a disability
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws ordinances as they apply to the hotel, guest and employees
  • Respond properly to irritated or angry guests

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All Banquet Set-Up Staff

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use hands to lift, carry, or pull objects
  • Use hands to clean dirty objects. (Using body members, hand tools, and or special devices to work, move or carry objects or materials)
  • Perform routine work and or the same task over and over again

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Must be flexible enough to work any shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years as a Banquet Set Up Supervisor experience in a hotel or resort of similar size required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as BEO’s, Training Manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports
  • Ability to speak effectively with groups, customers or employees of the organization
  • Must speak and write English fluently

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and volume

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of Guests situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Understand & follow instructions and be able to communicate with guest
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment
